This recipe is similar to the Fruit Cocktail cheesecake torte.
Grease and flour a 9" springform pan. In a bowl, cream:
- 1/2 cup butter, and
- 1/3 cup sugar, then add:
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla, then blend in:
- 1 cup flour.
Spread this dough across the bottom and up the sides of the pan.
In another bowl, combine:
- 8 oz softened cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 beaten egg.
Mix well and pour the cream cheese batter into the dough-lined pan. In a small bowl, stir together:
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon, mixed with
- 1/3 cup sugar, then toss in:
- 4 cups peeled, sliced apples
Spoon apple mixture over the cream cheese in the dough-lined pan. Sprinkle with:
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds, chopped pecans, or chopped walnuts (as you prefer)
Bake in preheated 450 degree F oven for 10 minutes. Turn down heat to 400 degrees F and bake for 25 minutes more.
