Banana Cakes

Banana Cake from A Cake Mix:

Turn a cake mix into a banana cake by substituting 4 or 5 ripe bananas for the liquid required.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

A good recipe for a family gathering that you can bake and serve right out of a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups mashed ripe banana (about 9 medium)
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1-2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 cups chocolate chips
  1. Cream butter and sugar, then mix in beaten eggs and vanilla.
  2. Stir in mashed banana, mix till smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift then whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda.
  4. Alternate adding flour mixture and sour cream to banana mixture.
  5. Pour half the batter in a greased 9 x 13 inch cake pan.
  6. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle half on top of the cake batter.
  7. Scatter half the chocolate chips on top.
  8. Spread remaining cake batter over the chips.
  9. Sprinkle on the rest of the cinnamon/sugar mixture and top with the remaining chocolate chips.
  10. Bake 50 minutes to 1 hour in a preheated 350 degree F oven.
