After storing it, unused, for years, I gave away the punch bowl set. Hopefully no one will ever ask me to bring punch to a party because if they do, I'm bringing a jug of limeade and a bottle of gin.
Garden Party Punch
A sherbet-based punch that's a cool, sweet drink on a hot day outdoors. Spike it with gin or vodka if it suits the occasion. On a very hot day, freeze half the pineapple juice in mini ice cube trays beforehand and add to the punch frozen.- 1 large tin pineapple juice
- 1 6 oz. can frozen lemonade OR limeade
- 1 large bottle Lime Rickey
- 1 pint lime sherbet
Pour the first 3 ingredients (add gin or vodka now if you like) and stir well. Add the lime sherbet in scoops and allow to melt on top.
Champagne Citrus Punch
- 2 cups water
- 3 regular tea bags (or 1 family-size tea bag)
- 1-1/3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 3 cups club soda
- 2 750 ml bottles Champagne or Prosecco
- lemon and lime slices for garnish
- In a large saucepan, bring 2 cups water to a boil.
- Add tea bag(s) and remove from heat. Let stand 3 minutes.
- Remove tea bag(s) and add sugar, lemon juice and lime juice, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Pour mixture from the pot into a punch bowl, refrigerate 2 hours.
- Stir in the club soda and pour in the Champagne, stir.
- Top with lemon and lime slices to decorate.
