Xylitol Warming

The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center warns that sugar-free candies, gum and foods sweetened with xylitol could be dangerous to dogs.  Dogs consuming xylitol-sweetened substances (certain toothpastes, gum, sugar-free candies, breath mints, energy bars, baked goods) may experience a quick drop in blood sugar that could lead to confusion, loss of coordination, unconsciousness, liver failure.

Paw Print Ornament

Mix:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
Roll out or press flat.
Use a cookie cutter to cut a circle or other shape.
Press your dog's paw into the dough to get an imprint (distract your dog with a treat).
Scratch  your dog's name over the paw print and make a hole in the top for a ribbon.
Bake the paw print ornament in a 250 degree F oven for 2 hours..
Cool on a rack.
Paint around the edge of the ornament and on the paw print with acrylic paint.
Put a ribbon through the hole and hang.

Idea: Use the salt dough to shape and bake a "display stand" and display the paw print on a bookcase or mantle.
