Marilyn's Apple Crisp with Custard Sauce

My favorite dessert. My mom made apple crisp topped with warm custard sauce, made from Bird's Custard Powder.
  • 6 cups peeled, sliced apples
  • 3/4 cups oats
  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Slice the apples into a greased 9 x 13" baking dish.
In a bowl, mix together oats, sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Cut in butter with a pastry blender.
Pat flour mixture lightly over the apples.
Bake in a 375 degree oven 30-40 minutes. Serves 6.
