Pilaf

Curried Rice

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 1-1/4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery or green pepper or onion or 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1-1/2 tsp. curry powder

Melt butter in a saucepan on high for a minute. Pour in uncooked rice and heat 2-4 minutes till browned, stirring once. Add remaining ingredients and cover. cook on high 4-6 minutes. Turn heat down to medium low and cook for 12-14 minutes more.

Herbed Bulgur

Serve on a lettuce leaf with skewers of BBQ meat and vegetables.

  • 1 cup bulgur
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh dill or cilantro
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
Pour bulgur into a medium bowl and cover with 2 cups boiling water.
Cover and let stand until bulgur is tender, 15-25 minutes.
Drain well.
Stir in oil, salt and fresh herbs.
