In his article "Dirty Electricity: Worse for Kids" (The Epoch Times, Sept 23-29, 2010, p. B3) Dr. Gifford-Jones, a Toronto medical practitioner and health writer, says that when household electrical current is transformed into low-voltage power for electronic devices, micro surges of electricity are created that cause a negative health impact. He warns, "Unless we get smart with cell-phone use, we may have a tsunami of brain cancers years from now, as damaged DNA takes years to cause malignancy."
How can you protect yourself and your family from possible harm?
His recommendations:
- Don't buy a home near a cellphone tower.
- Replace all dimmer switches in your home with regular light switches.
- Don't use low-voltage halogen tubes or energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights.
- Replace your old TV with a new LCD TV.
- Stand at least 5 feet away from an operating microwave oven, or leave the kitchen.
- Get rid of your cordless landline phone (emits dirty electricity even when not in use.)
- Turn on cellphones only to check messages and return calls.
- Don't sleep with a cellphone under your pillow or anywhere near your head.
- Don't carry a cellphone in your pocket (decreases sperm count)
- When using a cellphone, to keep it away from your head, use the speakerphone
- Limit cellphone texting ("This practice just radiates a different part of the body.")
