Storing glassware upside down in the kitchen cupboard, rims touching the shelf paper, keeps the interior dust-free. But there's a chance the glass will smell unpleasant later when you drink from it. Glass is porous and odours can become trapped inside a turned-down drinking glass.
So, place glasses in the cupboard as they'd sit on your table. Wipe them with a damp cloth or run them through the rinse cycle of the dishwasher before use if there's a chance they've collected dust.
