Gin

My mom has a juniper bush, and if you crush the berries between your fingers, they smell like gin. We have never tried using them to make gin, but maybe someday....
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 2 Tbsp dried juniper berries
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp chamomile
  • 1/2 tsp lavender
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 allspice berries
  • 2 4-inch pieces grapefruit peel (no pith)
  1. Combine vodka and juniper berries in a sterilized jar.
  2. Let steep 12 hours.
  3. Add remaining ingredients, seal jar, shake, let sit 36 hours.
  4. Strain out herbs through a cheesecloth.
  5. Strain again while pouring liquid into a sterilized bottle.
  6. Gin will keep for up to a year.

Note: Have fun varying the herb mixtures to make your own botanical gin.
