Butter Substitutes

 If you have no butter or want to use a less expensive substitute in baking, stir in your mixer:

  • 7/8 cup lard
  • 2 Tbsp liquid (water, milk or cream)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
A butter substitute to use in casserole sauces or meat dishes:
  • 2/3 cup chicken fat + double the salt = 1 cup butter
