Rice Krispie Squares
*For chewier squares, use 5 cups cereal. Use 6 cups of Rice Krispies if you like your squares crisp.
Makes about 24 squares.
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) butter
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla extract
- 3 cups (250 g) miniature marshmallows OR 24 large marshmallows
- 5 - 6 cups* (1250 mL) Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal
- Grease a 9" x 13" pan. Set aside.
- In a very large (3 quart/4 Litre) pot, melt butter over low heat.
- Stir butter so it goes slightly up sides of the pot.
- Stir in marshmallows till melted and well-blended.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla.
- With a large spoon, fold in Rice Krispies until well-coated with marshmallow mixture.
- Spread mixture in greased pan.
- Cool and cut into 2" (5 cm) squares.
